Everyone is welcome at BLEED and we are committed to ensuring that our program is as accessible as possible for everyone to enjoy. BLEED is a program that takes place in digital and in-person formats across three cities and online.

BLEED 2024 Auslan Introduction

Check the ‘Accessibility’ section of each event page for ratings and access services. The suite of accessible content will grow and change over the course of the festival, with updates added as new content is.

There are a variety of methods to make content accessible throughout BLEED 2024 including:

Assistance Animal
Assistance animals are welcome at Arts House, Campbelltown Arts Centre and PICA.
Assistive Listening
Assistive listening system available to help amplify or enhance the sound quality of an event. There is no additional charge for this service, simply ask theatre staff for assistance on arrival.
Audio Description
Audio describers provide live verbal descriptions of actions, costumes, scenery and other visual elements of talks, events and performances. Audio description can be live via personal headsets, pre-recorded or one-on-one with personal describer guides. See individual events for details on service.
Aural Rating 50%
Contains both sound and visual components, but sight is not essential to be able to engage with the event.
Aural Rating 75%
Mainly sound-based with visuals only incidental to the work, so blind or low vision audiences can have close to the full experience of the event.
Aural Rating 100%
Entirely sound-based with no visual elements and can be fully experienced by blind or low vision audiences.
Auslan Interpreting
An interpreter stands side of stage or speaker and translates live text and dialogue into Auslan.
Closed Captioning
Captions are displayed on a screen enabling the audience to read what is being said. This service can be activated or deactivated by the viewer.
Companion Card
You can book your complimentary companion ticket online or over the phone when purchasing tickets to any show. Contact our box office team for more information.
Open Captioning
Captions are always in view for everyone to experience.
Quiet Space Available
A space to facilitate the calming or alerting of senses as needed. Quiet spaces are used to avoid or recover from sensory overload or to provide sensory input to meet a sensory need.
Relaxed Performances
For anyone who would benefit from a more relaxed environment – this can include but is not limited to people with autism, sensory sensitivities, learning disabilities, dementia as well as those living with anxiety or who have experienced trauma.
Sighted Guides
A sighted guide assists individuals to navigate an experience or travel safely in any environment.
Tactile Tours
This allows patrons who are blind or have low vision and their companions to explore the set, props and costumes prior to the performance.
Visual Rating 50
May have music or sounds in the background, or may be partly open captioned or scripts and descriptions are given to the audience before the event on request.
Visual Rating 75
Fully open captioned providing access to spoken word but no background music or sounds.
Visual Rating 100
No music or dialogue or all dialogue is open captioned.
Wheelchair Accessible
Physical accessibility varies from venue to venue, and if a show includes the symbol, this indicates the performance is fully wheelchair accessible. If there is no wheelchair symbol, access may be partial – get in touch if you’d like more info.

The durational performance unfolds over two hours, with live performance by Anchi Lin (Ciwas Tahos), Natalie Tso, and Kori Miles alongside live-coding sound by Fetle Wondimu. This is a response to the cyberland of Temahahoi, expanding knowledge and connections beyond the soil and into the cloud.

Join a Tactile Tour of love.exe and Finding Pathways to Temahahoi, followed by an expanded durational performance of Finding Pathways to Temahahoi by Anchi Lin (Ciwas Tahos) and collaborators. This service invites patrons who are blind or have low vision and their companions to explore both installations and chat with the artists, prior to the performance. This service will be offered in conjunction with Audio Description.
